Who is John Blue?

  

John Blue, CPRP, is a parks and recreation consultant known for candor, scrutiny, and operational realism. With nearly a decade of municipal leadership—including service as Director of Parks and Recreation in Purcell, Oklahoma—he brings firsthand experience in budgeting, staff supervision, and capital planning. His consulting practice helps communities build public spaces that are ecologically sound, financially realistic, and operationally maintainable.


John holds a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) credential. He is also a trusted facilitator, connecting clients with architects, engineers, grant writers, and other professionals when projects require specialized support.


Whether advising elected officials, administrators, or operations staff, John delivers honest guidance rooted in stewardship and long-term impact.

  • Park Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Purcell, 2017-2020

Causes I Support

Oklahoma Monarch Society

The Oklahoma Monarch Society is made up of some of the best people I've ever known. Their mission is to support statewide efforts to create and protect habitat for monarchs and pollinators in Oklahoma. 


I wholeheartedly believe in the work that they do, and I have invested time and resources to promote their cause for many years. Their work inspired my direction at the City of Purcell in the management of Purcell Lake; to create managed wildlife habitats and introduce our citizens to the natural resources in their own back yard. I'm still creating these spaces on my own property.
